Candlelight Open House - 2012
Organization: Westmoreland County Historical Society
Description: The Candlelight Open House will recreate the ambience of an 18th-century evening of camaraderie and commerce and will celebrate life in Westmoreland County - then and now. Attendees will have the opportunity to:
Roll some wooden dice, learn to play a game of Draughts or Nine Men's Morris.
Taste some locally brewed (All Saints Brewery) Crimson Pumpkin Ale, some wassail made from the Colonial Williamsburg recipe and served from the "bar" at the Tavern, and sip some freshly brewed gourmet tea.
Admire and have the chance to purchase handcrafted games, toys, tavern tables, and pipe boxes from master woodworker Matthew Stein of Latrobe.
Talk to the authors of 'Images of America' series books on several Westmoreland County towns and buy signed copies of their books: 'Latrobe and the Ligonier Valley' by Sally Steiner Shirey; 'Delmont and Salem Township by Tracy Searight and 'Greensburg' by P. Louis DeRose.
Other candlelight activities will be held. The event is free and open to the public.
