Description: Dr. Michael P. Krom, associate professor of philosophy at Saint Vincent College, will be the featured speaker at the annual fall colloquium sponsored by the School of Humanities and Fine Arts and its department of philosophy at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the Foundations Room of Placid Hall on the campus of Saint Vincent College. Admission is free and open to the public.

The presentation is titled, “Building Platonopolis or Contemplating the Heavenly City? Ethical and Political Lessons from Plato’s Republic.”

“While Plato’s Republic is most evidently a dialogue on the nature of justice, it is also a dramatized defense of philosophy as a way of life,” Krom commented. “My lecture will guide participants through Socrates’ attempt to defend the life of justice and wisdom.”
