Oratorio Recital
Organization: Saint Vincent College
Description: Saint Vincent College School of Humanities and Fine Arts and its music department students will present a recital of oratorio and sacred song in the Mary, Mother of Wisdom student chapel at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. Admission is free and open to the public.

The program includes junior Danielle Byrne of Latrobe singing “Ich Folge Dir Gleichfalls” by J.S. Bach; sophomore Kara Laus of Carnegie, “But Who May Abide” from The Messiah by George Frideric Handel; freshman Carolyn Smith of Washington, “Domine Deus” by Antonio Vivaldi; continuing education student Sheena Chopra Schliesse of Weirton, West Virginia, mein Herze (Keep , O my spirit), from Christmas Oratorio by J. S Bach; freshman S. Edward Graybill of Pittsburgh (15215), “Agnus Dei” by Georges Bizet; sophomore Rona Gehring of Robinson, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by J. S Bach; freshman Ali Kertz of Kirkwood, Missouri, “Quia Respexit” by J.S. Bach; freshman Mary Kathleen Cassidy of Bridgeville, Pie Jesu by Gabriel Faure; freshman Jonathon White of Greensburg, “Honor and Arms” by Handel; freshman Abigail Sugrue of Export, “Laudate Dominum” by W.A. Mozart; freshman Rebecca Skirpan of Brownsville, “O Thou That Tellest” by Handel; sophomore Chantal Braziel of Pittsburgh (15235), “Seufzer, Thranen Kummer Noth” by J.S. Bach; and junior Lydia Gibson of Saint Marys, “Quae moerebat Et Dolebat” by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.

Students will be accompanied by Thomas Octave, assistant professor and chair of the music department, and Aaron Gray, a junior piano performance major. Sonya Caceres, lecturer in voice, will provide translations and historical commentary.
