Description: Saint Vincent Camerata Scholars will present Light from Light Begotten, a mid-winter a cappella choral program at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Queen of Peace Church in Patton, and at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at Saint Vincent Basilica. Both concerts are open to the public.
The program will include music by Thomas Tallis, Palestrina, Rheinberger, Rachmaninov, Duruflé, American composers Morten Lauridsen and Eric Whitacre as well as American Colonial shape-note hymns.
Saint Vincent Camerata, together with the Academy Chamber Orchestra, will perform the famous Lord Nelson Mass by Joseph Haydn at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 23 in Saint Vincent Basilica. The program will be repeated at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in St. Bernard's Church, Mt. Lebanon. Soloists will be Saint Vincent College students Carolyn Smith, soprano, and Rebecca Skirpan, mezzo-soprano, and Pittsburgh Opera soloists James Flora, tenor, and John Dooley, bass. Dr. Warren Davidson, artistic director of the Academy Chamber Orchestra will be concertmaster. Fr. Stephen Concordia, O.S.B., director of the Camerata, will conduct.
