Classy Glass: More Than Hot Air
Organization: Westmoreland Museum of American Art
Description: The public is invited to join Harley Trice as he presents the program, "Classy Glass: More Than Hot Air." Attendees will learn the storied past of glass in the region and the important contributions that Bryce Brothers Glass Co. made to the craft of hand-blown leaded crystal. James Bryce began as an apprentice glassblower with Bakewell in Pittsburgh in 1827 before founding his own company in Mount Pleasant, making high quality glassware for the White House, American embassies around the world, the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, and famous restaurants and clubs, including New York City's Four Seasons and the Rolling Rock Club.
Trice, a partner with Reed Smith LLP, Pittsburgh, is a great-great-grandson of James Bryce.
