Drinking Water Clinic - 2013
Organization: Penn State Extension
Description: Residents who rely on a private well, spring, or cistern for their drinking water can register to receive a basic water testing and education during a two-hour Drinking Water Clinic on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Donohoe Center, 214 Donohoe Road, Greensburg, PA 15601. You can attend one of two identical programs that day either from 1:00 PM 3:00 PM OR 6:00 PM 8:00 PM. Penn State Extension along with the Master Well Owner Network are sponsoring the workshop.

The clinic will provide education on proper location, construction, testing, maintenance, protection and treatment of private drinking water supplies. Participants can bring one sample of their drinking water for on-site water testing for several water quality parameters including coliform bacteria, E. coli bacteria, pH, total dissolved solids, and nitrate. All tests, except bacteria, will be done during the two-hour clinic so participants can discuss their results with the water specialists. The results are only for the education of the homeowner since the water test kits will only provide basic information about water quality. Sample codes will be provided to allow participants to access their bacteria results (by phone or email) within two days after the clinic.

The cost is $10.00 per household. Registration Deadline is Monday, July 15, 2013.

Pre-registration is required and is limited to the first 30 households per session. Registered attendees will be given more information about how to collect water samples for the workshop.
