Pages of History Storytime
Organization: Westmoreland Historical Society
Description: History is made of stories and what better way to introduce young children to the past than through picture books! Children ages 3-9, accompanied by an adult, are invited to an educational read-aloud session followed by a hands-on activity. The September storytime will feature "Long May She Wave - The True Story of Caroline Pickersgill and her Star-Spangled Creation" by author Kristen Fulton.

Children may have heard the Star-Spangled Banner, but do they know the story of the flag and the seamstresses who created it? This read-aloud is just in time for the anniversary of the Battle of Fort McHenry.

Call the Westmoreland Historical Society at 724-836-1800 to give us a headcount. The program is free but space is limited. On the day of the program, participants will meet at the Westmoreland History Education Center at Historic Hanna's Town.

Location: Historic Hanna's Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield
