Detailed Info on:
New Alexandria Public Library

The library serves New Alexandria and parts of the communities bordering on New Alexandria. The library started in 1921 in the Guthrie House on Main Street. From 1929 to 1976 the library was housed in the Community Center in what is now the kitchen. Because of a need for more space the library moved to the lower level of the Community Center in 1976 and was housed in a 650 sq. ft. area. In 2001 when the library once again outgrew its quarters it was moved to a 1200 sq. ft. area in the Keystone Plaza at the intersection of Routes 22 & 981. The library has two computers and a well lighted air-conditioned area, housing about 10,000 books. Special programs are held frequently to serve both the children and adults of our service area.
