2022 Banana Split Celebration

Did you know that Latrobe is the home of the first banana split?  Making its debut in 1904, the banana split sundae was created by David “Doc” Strickler, Latrobe native and pharmacy apprentice.

This year starting Friday, August 19 through Sunday, August 21, Latrobe will be having its annual Banana Split Celebration!

This three-day event is jam-packed with lots of things to do such as:

Activities for kids from 10:00AM – 1:00PM at the library, including a visit by Sled Dogs Banana & Black Bear!

Yellow Tie Gala at the Latrobe Art Center

5k Banana Run at Legion Keener Park

Banana Cream Pie Eating Contest

A car show, vendors, food, games, fun and so much more!
