American Eclipse with David Baron

March 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

David Baron published his award-winning book, American Eclipse: A Nation’s Epic Race to Catch the Shadow of the Moon and Win the Glory of the World just before the 2017 eclipse.  His updated 2024 edition will help everyone get ready for the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8.  During the virtual talk, Mr. Baron will share his passion for the sky phenomenon and explain how that led to him write his book.

In addition to being an author, journalist and broadcaster, Mr. Baron is a former science correspondent for NPR, and his TED Talks have over 2 million views.

A little about his book:

On a scorching July afternoon in 1878, at the dawn of the Gilded Age, the moon’s shadow descended on the American West, darkening skies from Montana Territory to Texas. This rare celestial event—a total solar eclipse—offered a priceless opportunity to solve some of the solar system’s most enduring riddles, and it prompted a clutch of enterprising scientists to brave the wild frontier in a grueling race to the Rocky Mountains.

This virtual event is free, but requires registration.
